Introduction to Landing Pages

Before you begin the attempt to build a successful list or create a powerful salespage, you will want to start with a rigorous introduction to landing pages. In stark contrast to undifferentiated, unfocused home pages, landing pages focus specifically on capturing leads for a newsletter or making sales for a specific product – and make no attempt to give visitors a different option.

Another word which is used for a landing page when it functions for the specific purpose of capturing leads is “squeeze page.” A squeeze page is a page designed to get names and email addresses. Usually, however, a squeeze page is usually a smaller type of landing page, which usually has an opt-in form in sight when the page loads.

So what is important to learn in an introduction to landing pages? First, it is important to recognize that all successful marketers use these. If you plan to sell a product over the Internet, you will want to use one, too, rather than relying on sidebar opt-in forms and unfocused pages that do not convey a single point and a single call to action.

Another important thing you will want to take away from this introduction to landing pages is that every landing page contains the same parts and is focused on a SINGLE goal – getting the visitor to become a subscriber or buyer.
These parts are as follows: an opt-in form (or sales prompt), a brief or lengthy introduction, a picture of the list/product owner, the signature of the list owner, and a call to action (or multiple calls to action).

Determining which model will work best for you can simply only be done through testing. While many boast a conversion and attribute it to the shortness of their introduction (many will be one short paragraph), otherwise will boast a high conversion rate because they use lengthy, thorough, and compelling copy. Jimmy D. Brown's list and traffic, for instance, has an unbelievably high opt-in rate, but he uses lengthy copy.

If there is anything you absolutely must take away from an introduction to landing pages, it is that you cannot create a landing page or squeeze page that isn't focused.

An Overview on Internet Marketing

Internet marketing, put quite simply, is the concept of business marketing, both to customers and to other businesses (B2B), by use of the internet. However, getting inside the concept and looking at how it works may not be considered as quite so simple. The primary reason for this is that the internet, still relatively young, is ever-evolving and therefore subject to waves of change.

New advances in internet technology are constantly providing new opportunities for businesses to add to their marketing approach and content. Likewise, advances in technology are making more affordable options available to the consumer, and so many more people are logging onto the internet every day. As they do, the demographic is changing, and no longer is the wealthy individual the only target of internet marketing. Today virtually all income levels must be considered in the internet marketing approaches of business.

In the 1990s, internet marketing went berserk. It was a brand new concept, and caution had been thrown to the wind in all the hype. Companies did not take into consideration that the same variables of marketing in other forms of media should logically be applied to internet marketing as well. Their failure to study markets and create sound strategies led to the fall of many so-called dot-coms in the end of 2000. The survivors, and successors, began to look toward time-tested logic in marketing for direction, and the result was massive growth.

Through the now-careful approach of businesses and marketers alike, targeted advertising on the internet has brought forth great success. Virtually any market you may wish to break into can be tapped on the internet. Many marketing firms offer the solutions a business needs to get their products out to consumers, while a small firm may wish to handle their marketing on their own and can find lower-cost solutions for their goals as well.

Search engines are a major resource for marketing, but typically are only able to provide ideas for what the consumer is already searching for. To accomplish the spontaneous suggestions offered by television or radio, pop-up ads and ads placed directly on a web-site are used. E-mail is an excellent form of marketing, but typically only has success once a business has built a good relationship with the consumer.

More and more people are spending more and more time on the internet daily. The reason is simple: the convenience offered by the internet, coupled with the increasing abilities of the internet to help you get your tasks completed, has allowed for all types of business to be conducted with point and click ease. Many tasks no longer require a trip in the car to be completed. Thus, relationships are growing on the web, and as they do, the pace of internet commerce has rocketed into the trillions of dollars. Advances in technology, and increased traffic, are leading to a future for internet marketing that can only point skyward.

Today There Are More Lousy Marketers than Lousy Products!

If you've ever spent time reading popular forums, you've heard people complaining about how bad a product or income opportunity is or praising it for how excellent the information is – or how functional it is – or how much money they have made. This is especially true of marketing forums, where people almost always discuss the latest product launch or company in their field.

It's not uncommon to see bipolar approaches to discussing new product or opportunity launches, too. One approach will always focus on the negative parts of the product or company, lambasting it is a sham or as dysfunctional. The other approach will be a little more realistic and look at what was good and what could be improved upon.

Often, you will see the negative comments coming from those who have had little to no success promoting the product or company – or who, they themselves, have had no real experience or training in successfully promoting that product or opportunity.

In contrast, you will likely see the positive comments coming from those who have successfully promoted the product or opportunity and earned; or those who know marketing well enough that they could successfully promote the product or opportunity if they decided to do so.

There's a good reason for this: those who can successful promote products or opportunities and earn money know that almost any product or opportunity, no matter how mundane it is, can be promoted with a high degree of success. They also know that a product or opportunity doesn't necessarily have to be radically different in order to provide information that the end-user needs most.

One prime example of this is McDonald's. Their food was really nothing new or different or better than their competitors – and yet they swiftly defeated everyone else in the market to achieve dominance.

The difference was in how the business was positioned and marketed. In the hands of a bad marketer, it would have floundered; in the hands of a skillful marketer, it became one of the largest corporations in the world.

So keep this caveat in mind next time you hear someone attacking the latest digital product release or income opportunity: there are more lousy marketers than there are lousy products or opportunities!
